Hours:  37 hours per week with flexibility to work occasional evenings & weekends plus a full driving license, business insurance and use of own vehicle

Background to the project:

Anawim was originally founded by the Sisters of Our Lady of Charity. They invited Father Hudson’s Society to work with them in partnership to develop the work, and their joint vision and ethos continue to inspire the project. Anawim seeks to support women who are vulnerable due to poverty, homelessness, abuse, rape, addictions, and may be drawn into prostitution and/or offending as a consequence. It recognises prostitution as exploitation of women. All staff, whether working in a paid or voluntary capacity, are expected to respect and work to the core values of respecting others, valuing all, and belief in the possibility of a life lived to the full.

Job Purpose:

To provide specialist interventions for women who have high levels of vulnerability and high levels of risk and who are deemed to have multiple or complex needs including trauma. With an additional focus on women who are at risk of having or have had their children removed from their care as a result of domestic violence and abuse. As a result of safeguarding incidents they often require the highest levels of multi-agency working. Such women are often at risk of hospital admission, to a mental health hospital and / or acute hospital via routes such as A&E and RAID, or prison.

Aim of the post:

To achieve positive outcomes for a minimum of 50 women per year who are referred with multiple and complex needs. You will empower women to move from victims to survivors, learn emotional resilience, coping mechanisms, gain problem solving techniques that they can continue to use throughout their lives and work through their past trauma and/or other risk behaviours.
