Project Venus, created and delivered by Anawim women’s centre, is a 6-week interactive course for young women aged 14-18.

The project sees specialist caseworkers create a safe space in schools for young women to discuss topics which may still be considered taboo.

A woman’s teenage years are so vital to her understanding of her body, her relationships and her environment. Having an accessible space to speak with peers and professionals about topics such as periods, sexual health, emotional wellbeing and even the criminal justice system can be vital to a healthy understanding of and relationship with these topics.

So far Project Venus has been delivered in one school, whose head teacher fed back that the programme had made a real difference. The young women who took part also asked to visit Anawim’s centre to learn more about the work we do – we look forward to welcoming them soon.

Care package including a period pack. Not all young women have access to the safe, hygienic period products they vitally need.
