Are you passionate about issues affecting women and want to work to make a real difference to the community? Then we would love to hear from you at Anawim – Birmingham’s Centre for Women. We are looking for inspiring and dynamic individuals to join – and Chair – our board of Trustees.
Anawim is a Birmingham charity committed to working with and for women. We offer gender responsive and trauma-informed support, to enable women to reach their potential. We do this through wraparound services including long-term specialist provisions alongside other practical resources.
Over the last financial year, we supported more than 1,700 women both at our centre in Balsall Heath and across three secure locations. We have a drop-in service, a food bank, offer free counselling, courses, and specialist case worker support. You can find out more in our Impact Report.
Trustees are pivotal in guiding Anawim’s strategic direction and ensuring we achieve our goals. We are looking for someone who can provide strong governance, oversight, and support to the senior leaders. Someone who wants to be part of a transformative organisation that makes a real impact in women’s lives.
You will work with us towards our vision – for a world where women and girls are safe, free, valued, and empowered members of society. We are looking for people who can help us continue to provide hope, support, and opportunities for women, and to advocate for them, in Birmingham and beyond.
‘As a growing charity offering a unique service to women in Birmingham, we need a trustee board that better reflects the women we support, so we encourage applications from global majority communities. We especially require skills and understanding of finance and fundraising and trustees who can help our positioning with corporate, philanthropic and policy partners as well as providing the security that good governance brings’. Joy Doal, Anawim CEO.
We currently have three vacancies in total – Chair, Trustee and co-opted Trustee.
Please email us f you would like to visit and have an informal chat, or send your CV and a cover letter outlining your suitability for either role to recruitment@anawim.co.uk.
