Are you interested in changing systems and policies which affect women? Do you want to work towards creating a stronger community?
Anawim works with women in Birmingham to empower, enable and support them to overcome obstacles and be the best they can be.
We’re looking for trustees who are connected with their community – whether that’s through local authority, health or council commissioning, children’s services, prisons, probation, women’s institutes/groups or community organising.
Experience & skills
We’d particularly love to hear from you if you have any of the skills listed below;
Could you be Anawim’s Honorary Treasurer? You will preferably be a chartered accountant.
Do you have fundraising experience with larger trusts, foundations and government contracts?
Do you have experience of managing staff, especially around competency, progression and delivering on public sector contracts?
We are also looking for co-opted members to join sub committees – finance, audit, investments and fundraising; people and development; operations, compliance and risk.
Commitment
The full trustee board meets quarterly in October, January, April and July. Minimum 3hrs. Papers and reports to be read the week prior.
Sub committees meet at least once in between or twice when necessary.
All trustee need to attend one sub group, co-opted members are not full trustees and hence do not have a vote.
We need commitment to engage with relevant issues, to promote the charity amongst professional and private circles, to visit the centres and meet with the women, to attend and support with events and to be involved with influencing policy on social media, in meetings, consultations and events.
What we’re about
Anawim wants women to have alternatives to harmful prison sentences, good quality, holistic casework support for all women irrespective of needs and complexity, access to good employment and safe housing, fair treatment from the criminal justice system, protection and justice from sexual violence and domestic abuse and opportunities to be the best mother they can be to their children.
If you want these things too, consider joining us. Contact Joy at joydoal@anawim.co.uk to arrange an informal chat.
